January 20th, 2009

Today I got to witness the presidential inauguration... mind you it was over the internet rather than in D.C. or standing at Rockefeller Center or anything of that sort, but it was warm in my office. I was able to chat with my friends and update my facebook and explore the new whitehouse.gov. I text messaged updates to my wife who couldn't watch it live and I laid the office phone next to my computer speakers so my boss could listen while he watched everything on the huge silent TVs in Time Square. To sum up, I used the media that my new president is fully embracing to allow us to feel a part of our country again. Today I watched the first president that received my vote stumble his way through his oath and follow that with a moving speech. After today, I hope to stop feeling a guilt for being American. I hope to participate. I plan to complain less and care more. I hope to be patient. But today, I said Amen, I said Amen and Amen.

I can't say a man I ever voted for won prior to this election either! Glad you weren't too jaded to give it a try again.
