full-length

I'll try to make this my last "Locker Room Story", but you have to understand how much my trips there bring excitement to my life. Like last week when I saw the guy that was most likely an F-to-M tranny, but could have just been a guy on steroids, but this isn't that story. No, this is the story of the friendly asian dude. After my workout I was sitting in front of my locker, preparing to shower, when this tiny old naked asian dude comes up to the locker next to me. (I wasn't aware it was occupied because he didn't use a lock. This is why I didn't leave the empty buffer locker(s) between us. So naked asian dude sits down and is doing his thing and then looks over at me and says, "Football player?" and I say "nope".
"What sport you play?"
"I'm just trying to get in shape. I don't play."
"Dancer?"
"nope"
"Singer"
"nope. I'm a painter." I wanted to appease him, but I don't even know how to explain to my peers what kind of artist I am, so I say I paint because why not.
"Oh a painter! Very good. You know many artists do not get known until they are dead." And not to stereotype the guy, but his accent made this seem wise and I decided he was full of answers. However, I was large naked white dude at this point and he was still little naked asian dude, so I decided it was time to go shower. I assumed he would be gone by the time I got back so I told him to have a good day.
But alas, when I return, he is (dressed and) still there. I start doing my thing and then he says, "Can you tell what this is meaning?" and he points to a paper and the words underlined say "Full-Length Picture".
"That means a picture of your whole body, head to toe."
"Oh, whole body."
"Yeah"
"You very American. You know what it means. (I wasn't sure how to take the american part) Like this?" And he shows me a photocopy of people dancing.
"Yeah"
"Like this?" and he shows me a photocopy of himself dressed in an outfit and standing in a pose. I notice that the top of the paper says Tai Chi.
"Yeah. Do you do Tai Chi?"
"Yes. I teach here 10 year. I teach 20 years (and he moves his hands in a way that I know he means he's been teaching 20 years total"
"Oh wow, that's great"
"So how you think I fit this picture on business card" He shows me a mock up of a business card and he wants to put his picture on it (and there's clearly no room).
"I don't know"
"Could i put it on other side?"
"Yeah, that would be perfect"
"Thank you"
Then he made a call on his cell phone and I used the moment to excuse myself to go to the sink. I heard him talking in what I will assume was chinese, and then say in english "full length Picture".
"When I come back he is leaving and he tells me to have a good day and I tell him the same.

The art therapy department is in the third floor of the building across the street and I saw them having a movement class of some kind this morning. At first I thought they were dancing in a big circle, but then realized there was a leader. At one point they were all facing the window and waving their arms, so I waved at them. They laughed.

Check this: http://springbreaknola.blogspot.com/
My friend who is part of this is in her studio across the street from me right now and I see that she has one of those clip-to-your-ear phones on. Kira, not cool... not cool. HA! but I do want to try to get some Clem Snide to you...

awww...

Don Knotts has passed away.
No joke guys, this made me really sad when I heard the news. I was a huge Andy Griffith fan and Don was the main reason. I then went on to become a great fan of Don's films.

IMDB Debacle

Like many people, my obsession is IMDB. lately i have started to read the message boards attached to certain performers or films because they are the most hilarious and pathetic musings, almost as hilarious and pathetic as this. anyway i found my way to dakota fanning's page. her message board gets used a lot, but mostly for a 15 year old actress named kasey and her tale of woe. here are all of kasey's postings since december 2005, hilarious and pathetic.

Everyone,

You know how my website link in in my signature? Well, I got an email from Sam Montgomery (she has an IMDb, you can look her up as "Sam Montgomery"). It could have been someone pretending to be her, so me and my dad are checking it out. Well, anyway, she said she is a writer for Paramount and is writing a movie about a mentally challenged girl and her hardships, and she wants me for the part. She says she wanted Dakota, but she is too busy. Now, I knwo this sounds so fake, because I'm not even a real actress yet, but me and my dad are checking it out to see exactly how real it is, so I'll find out soon. But for now, this so so cool! She told me she was at this board and clicked on my link and thinks I'm perfect. I don't know why on earth she would choose me as her second choice to Dakota, and that's the part that makes me think its fake, but I think if she were going to pretend to be a Paramount writer, she would choose someone to pretend to be that had a few more credits. Anyway, if this turns out to be real, isn't that cool? Tell me what you think of this...

I'm definetly being very cautious and told her to talk to my dad and gave her his email, but what if this turns out to be real?

Oh yeah, I know that, but I haven't had any news from anything fr awhile, so even if this turns out to be completely trash, it will still be fun to deal with. I know all that.

I know you need an agent, and that's not how it works and all, but I'm getting an agent VERY SOON, so if everything works out with that, other things can be arranged around it. I'm just happy my site has gotten ANY hits, at least this board is somewhat promotional.

Kaitlyn-

I'm pretty sure you don't have to pay for agents at all. They make your profit by getting you work, and that's how you can be sure they're actually trying. Because if you don't get jobs, they don't get payed. I might be wrong, or maybe some agents you have to pay for, I'm not sure, but what I've heard is that you don't pay them to find you work.

u2theedge- Thank you very much for your support. Some people here are a lot kinder than others!

"Sorry if we're not totally up-to-date with your sad little life. You didn't post in this thread what had happened - was it a complete furphy?"

Thanks a lot-- I really appreciate it. And also, no, he hasn't seen me act. He's just taken a look at my resume and gotten a rough idea that I maybe have even just a little bit of talent, and he's very nice and supportive to me. What makes you think my life is so sad?

I just don't see why we need to go back and reply to threads no one looks at anymore. I'm not stupid-- when the woman replied (which she only did a week or two ago!) and said she was a free-lance writer and went from one company to the next and didn't have a Paramount address, and assured me that the "part is VERY real", I knew she was no one I wanted to interact with. I told her she shouldn't be in contact with me, and not only because there shouldn't be direct contact between the actor and the writer without an agent, but that I was a minor, and she was NOT handling herself very responsibly.

Yes, I can take care of myself, and my life is not "sad". I have actual feelings and hobbies and likes and dislikes, I don't just sit around on message boards and pout about not having a career. I'm 15, careers are not m biggest priority right now.

look-it

My boss says "look-it" a lot.

The wife's chili was good. So good that I went and bought a thermos so I could bring some hot chili to work.

My mother-in-law mails me the Sunday Comics page from her newspaper. We get home delivery of the weekend NY Times, but it does not have a funnies page (except the high class funnies in the magazine including a running 1-page by chris ware). It's such a simple and incredibly thoughtful thing for her to send me the funnies and I enjoy laying in bed and reading them.

chilly chili

i ventured into the world of homemade chili today. i'm a big chili person, who knows the reason i have waited so long for this delightful foray. i want to be a godd cook, one of my girlfriends has offered to give me cooking lessons. i think my first lesson is going to be beef stew. mmmm.

chili

It's quite freezing in my office today. Of course most people got the day off, but not us. About 5 years ago the school decided to be "PC" and have MLK, jr.'s day off... this means that the school no longer takes president's day off. Whatever... it's not like I know how to celebrate a day for presidents. Plus, at work, I was thrown another gig of ram to shove into my laptop, woot woot (Static Sensitive!).

My wife is making turkey chili. I am excited. She doesn't cook, so I am fairly nervous too.

Kira gave me a book last week (last week?) and she gave me the 1st of only 4 copies. Then I selfishly asked if I could get the image from the book that was unbound so I might frame it for the wall. Nay. But that's okay because the book sits pretty on the mantle and the powerline/bird painting she made us still needs framed. Perhaps pictures of these things will come soon.

I attempted to eat vegetables and dip for lunch, but the chili office forced me out for soup.

girl scouts

Morgan came to my class yesterday as a Guest Lecturer/TA. She rocked their worlds. I can't believe the improvements the students made after she spoke with them about form and volume. I think she blew their minds.

All day long yesterday I couldn't stop wondering if it was girlscout cookie icecream season, so last night, when it felt to be the coldest night this year (even colder than our heavy snowfall last week) I made the wife venture with me to the grocery store, and I was right! Seriosly guys, go get yourself some girlscout icecream for the limited time!

funky town

I'm in a funk. That's not uncommon, as I seem to get them once a month. And they usually consist of 1 of 2 things, or a combination of 2 things. This funk is the combo package which includes wanting to leave NYC. Wanting to live somewhere that I can afford to buy a house, drive a car to work, have a backyard, spend less money for many things, not constantly be in groups of people... sometimes I realize I'm too introverted for a big city. But other times I thrive on the urban setting.

The other side of the funk is artistic. I feel I've not done anything worth my time in a while and that I'll never be "accomplished". I don't want to be well known for my work, I just want to be someone that produces quality work and often. I also want to enjoy my own work and not say things like "It's not that good" "I'm not happy with it" "I wish I had done this differently" when people compliment me. I've been drawing durring some of the model sets in the class that I'm teaching and I really like the figure drawings I'm producing. I even enjoy it when the highschoolers gather around me and I demonstrate some techniques and ideas. I just wish that I would take the time outside of that class to sit down and work on a new project, whether it be more paintings or a new film.

Now, I know myself and I know that by next week, I'll be walking home and enjoying the street of brownstones and watching the birds fly in a massive group and be very happy to live in brooklyn. And I'll sit down and paint something and be very happy with myself and I won't think about this funk again until next month when it comes back.

you down with OCD? yeah you know me!

i have OCD. i was diagnosed with it when i was about 13 and it's taken on various forms. my specific brand is known as trichotillomania, or "trich" for those in the nerdy know. it derives its name from the greek "thrix" which means" hair," "tillein" which means "to pull," and of course, "mania" which means "madness" or "frenzy." if you haven't quite guessed by now, my form of OCD means that i pull out my hair. this particular type of OCD affects about 1-2% of the US population but because it's a bit gross and not as cleanly cute as handwashing it doesn't really get broadcast-"hey check out my lack of arm hair, yeah, i did that!" i'm pretty lucky, many people that have this form of OCD have bald spots, no eyelashes and other hair strangeness. i used to take medication but i was able to relax enough without so i haven't needed it in years but i do still have this form of OCD. it's not going anywhere and i guess that's ok. having an obsessive personality can manifest itself in different ways, extremely intense but short lived relationships (no pbf, not those kind of relationships), brief and focused periods of interest on random things-what would you like to know about...civil war reenactment, mesoamerican indians, seashells of the gulf coast? none of this is harmful, it's just a part of my personality. i have to schedule myself or else i will get nothing done because i will get very focused on one specific thing i have coming up. i often lay in bed and write elaborate letters to people that will never make it to paper. sometimes i just blog.

my life has truly begun...

the night of the biggest blizzard in nyc ever (27 inches!) the pbf and i were bundled up for a cozy winter sleep. i, being a light sleeper who wakes up easily and just as easily falls back asleep, was awakened by a smell. usually it's a noise, but this was one of the few times opf note that it was of the olfactory kind. bacon, coffee, burnt toast you ask? oh no. i was awakened by the death like smell of sick dog-diarrhea. i woke the pbf up, he sleepily stood on our bed to wiggle the fan light so it would turn on. we looked around the room through the blur of sleep in our eyes and the haze from the smell and there it was, an old fashioned spicy mustard color puddle, approximately the shape of peru on a very, very oversized map. i could actually feel the movie of my life happen as i came upon this sight. the camera suddenly pushed closer and the sounds of high pitched strings filled my head. i almost lost my taco bell. that would have been better. wordlessly i did my task. grabbing my supplies i was invigorated with a will to clean as never before. i was armed with a new trash bag, lysol cleaner spray, swiffer wet-jet and a brand new role of paper towels. the pbf was in shock, he had barely moved since the incident. we stared at the puddle, he took some paper towel and ceremoniously wiped up a small portion of it. after depositing it into the bag, he gagged and muttered, "i'll take care of the dog." i was alone, a soul searching challenge, this was my battle. i would prevail. i gagged, my supreme crunch wrap barely stopping at my uvula. i swallowed. hard. the rest of the wee hours of that evening are a blur for me. i know that after about an hour it was over. well, most of it was over. i vaguely recall febreezing the entire room, burning candles and leaving the 23 degree fahrenheit air to rush in through an open window to cleanse the room of it's stench. we made our repose that night on our pullout, god bless my mother for insisting we get one. the dog, the beast to us that night, laid in her crate in the middle of the kitchen, pepto bismol on the paw she covered her eyes with. last night when we took her for a walk i was never so happy in my whole life as i was then to see her poo, no resemblance to dulce de leche. i am a better person today than i was two days ago, stronger, heartier, less afraid of massive poo puddles.

snow show

I just realized that I had this set to not accept annonymous comments... let me go fix that.

This is our house in the biggest blizzard in NYC since 1947.

This is our car before we dug it out...

This is our car after lots of digging.

This is the dog and I... this picture doesn't really do the 22 inches (or more) of snow justice.

I made the wife walk an avenue block and a half through this so we could buy ice cream.

we're both nerds

We were invited to a Martini party, but we're laying low tonight... We're staying home and drinking frozen margerita's left over from the wife's birthday party and watching the Olympic opening ceremony. I blame the tequila on hearing my wife saying the following things during the ceremony:
Awe sweet... squint your eyes
look baby they're a box
no seriously, squint your eyes... look!
they got purses
here's the nazi's
America can't handle this... "Look at the fags on ice... i'm from the midwest"
He's a flame!
I swear there's a guy dressed as a double bat.

So, we were going to use manandwife.blogspot.com, but it was taken... wife and man is more fitting anyway since she's the more dominent of us.
So, I bring to you, straight from the New Jersey lady, the only post on manandwife.blogspot.com

Marriage

Marriage. It's been a topic in the news and I want to voice my concern. Homosexuals have marched, and protested for their "right" to exchange marriage vows. However, I believe this is immoral and am offended by all of this.

My first observation is that homosexuality is a sin and is deviant behavior: if you choose to be homsexual that is between you and God. To ask to have your sin validated is arrogant and offensive and similar to the pedophile, a liar, an adulterer and/or a murderer asking that their behavior be treated as if it were normal.

Secondly, even if you are not Christian and/or you don't believe in God, there is the scientific argument. Where in nature have you found where two male animals or two female animals mate?

Lastly (for today), I am a loving and kind individual and I do believe that I should love all God's children. Any violence against someone because of their "orientation" is certainly not acceptable but this is your right as human not as a gay human.

I am sick and tired of those engaging in aberrant behavior trying to force it on the rest of us.

If any of the links don't work, or if this seems mean, I blame it on my margerita.

she's a nerd

After the wife made me watch the X-Files Pilot episode last night, I felt the need to add more reasons she's a nerd...
She loves Documentary Films
She LOVES non-fiction literature
There is NO actor name she doesn't know... name any minor character in any movie... she tell you the actors name
She breaks down the sounds of accents for fun
I just know there are more reasons that I'm blanking on... but these are all reasons I love her...

My two reasons I say she isn't a nerd...
She doesn't enjoy the Letterman then Conan evening like I do
She's damn sexy.

nerd post redux

i recently posted on one of my other, much less glorious blogs a musing on whether or not i am a nerd. here it is:

"my husband thinks i'm a nerd, sometimes i think otherwise, sometimes i think he's right. i present to you evidence for and against nerddom

for-went to "x-files" trivia contest in high school as a participant
against-have no desire to be a wench at a ren "fayre"
for-owned time life books series on things unknown"mysteries of the unknown"
against-loathe anime
for-had "unsolved mysteries" weekly pizza party as a youth
against-could care less about "star trek"
for-love and own "stargate" (the film)
against-no love for "stargate" (the tv show)
for-current prized possessions include MIP "raiders of the lost ark" action figures
against-do not believe in time travel
for-wrote list of 30 harry potter spells from memory at part time job over the summer

now you choose: nerd or not?"

The rules...

You're here because we like you... kinda.
And while you're here, you're expected to never mention our names. You may refer to me as the PBF (permanent boy friend) or thisisntjimmy and you may refer to her as The Wife. If you mention our names in a comment on this site, we will delete it. This is only because the wife and I have students and coworkers that enjoy googling people and will read our blog daily if they find we have one. We know that because we do it to them.
We both have other blogs (she has two!) and we both are funny, and we both have great things to say, and so why not combine our blogs into one?! Plus, we know a couple that combined their last names into one new last name when they got married... so the least we can do is combine our blogs. So those are the rules. Please comment occasionally to let us know you're reading.
