Other names used by friends of James Dean to refer to him in this PBS special... Jimmy James, Jiminey, Jim. These are also names used to address me at times. Don't call me Jim, that was my father... I don't care either way about Jiminey... I find Jimmy James amusing.
In Jimmy James' last movie, Giant, his cowboy character is playing with a rope while he talks to people. He nonchalantly puts a knot in the rope by flipping the end around, never actually using his hands on the knot.
Jimmy cherished The Little Prince the way many cherish the Bible. This documentary show chose to end Dean's story refering to this. They compare the ending of The Little Prince to the end of Jimmy's life. (l'll not give away the ending to Little Prince if you've not read it... you should read it.) But I'll say it was kind of a cheesy and odd way to end the show.

I bought the movie East of Eden because the book is one of my favorites and James Dean was AMAZING. Well. I think he was. There's a scene where he's fighting with his dad in the movie and it's so good - and later in the special features it said he added quite a bit to it. I was really impressed. His story is so tragic . . . and I had no clue about The Little Prince thing. I think he looks a LOT like that guy in Annapolis and Spiderman. And Tristen and Isolde (which I wasted many brain cells watching . . . :)
